Of course the most important event of the week (my art life?) was the show.

The Salty Dawg Saloon has been a legendary drinking establishment since 1957. The original structure was built in 1897. It was a post office, a railroad station, a grocery store, a coal mining office, and a school house before becoming a favorite watering hole for locals, tourists, and fishermen.
Navigational buoys. I think these are amazing to look at. I’d like to make a quilt based on them.

Maria is an old SEW & SEW! Loved your photos of the trip back from show. One day I will get to Alaska to meet you and those boys we have so much in common with. Surely you floated back home on cloud nine.
It was a great weekend Carole. The show, the time without kids, Homer. It was great time.
Love your photo’s. My one & only trip to Alaska was a cruise, and during that cruise we had 3 stops. Every port was spectacular. One included a “whale watching” trip, and we saw so many of the buoys in the channel, and most were loaded with wildlife; seals and birds. Beautiful place to live; but I think you must have to be a hardy soul to contend with the weather. I’m griping about 22 degrees and a dusting of snow. I do not like the cold. Hubby doesn’t like the heat. We are kind of in the middle in the Mid-Atlantic. Thankful we aren’t getting all the snow that DC, Baltimore and Boston get!!

Thank you Mary. I was just talking to a friend the other day about how much we Alaskans love our state. It can be a harsh climate, and if you don’t like it, you leave. The ones left think it is the greatest place in the world. I am glad you got to visit. I am not going to Oregon, life continues to rush by and if I am going to fulfill other commitments, I need to stay put. I will be posting some photos though. Thank you for asking.
