2014 Teaching Schedule

I have been meaning to share my teaching schedule for a while, and with classes coming up at the end of the month, I figured I better do it now.

I decided the best way to offer classes at the Quilt Zone is to offer two intensive weekends. I am hoping some of you decide to come to Anchorage and study with me. If you can take three classes over the course of a weekend, it is worth your travel.

You can sign up over the phone. Just call 907-561-2020 and the lovely ladies at the Quilt Zone will sign you up.

Here’s the low down on those classes. The last weekend of March I will be teaching the following three classes.

Next up, I will be traveling to CANADA to teach!

Pattern and Repetition in Contemporary Quiltmaking
May 25th-30, 2014
Denman Island, BC, Canada

This is my first teaching gig outside of Alaska, and I am very grateful for this opportunity. My goal is to share everything I know about the art of quiltmaking. In turn, this will get everyone rev’ed up to make all kinds of amazing. We are going to fling our arms open wide and creativity is going to come radiating out of us. That’s what I am hoping for.

SEW FUN
June 28, 29 & 30
The Wrangell Mountains Center
McCarthy, Alaska

I will be conducting the second ever SEW FUN Workshop in McCarthy, Alaska. Sign up for one, two,or three days of stitching fun. I have a dream of empowering the world to make things with sewing machines, and it starts in the small mountain village of McCarthy, Alaska. The format of this workshop is simple. You show up with a sewing idea/project, and I help you realize it. This is an off-the-grid sewing experience.  Supplies and machines are provided to those who need them along with expert advice, kind companions, yummy food, and cocktails at eight. All skill levels and sewing desires welcome. If you are interested in reading about last year’s Sew Fun Workshop, you can. I wrote about Day One, Day Two, and Day Three.

Artists-in-Residence
September- October 2014
McColl Center for Visual Art

This residency emphasizes community engagement. We have not defined exactly what that will mean, but I am sure it will involve at least one sewing machine. I will keep you posted.
