Image Journal #15

Notice there are no lines on the road. Our harsh winters erase them every year. My first spring in Anchorage I was so confused by this. Where did the lines go? Where’s my lane? What do I do? Finally, I figured out you just follow the guy in front of you and hope for the best.

Maria Shell Image Journal #15I attended the Young Women of Distinction Luncheon where this year’s Girl Scout Gold Award winners were honored . I was BLOWN away by these young ladies’ achievements.

Maria Shell Image Journal #15More people should know that this year’s state champions in Lego Robotics just happen to be an all Girl Scout team. They call themselves the Electronically Overdressed Senioritas. It’s just all around awesome.

Maria Shell Image Journal #15Maria Shell Image Journal #15I wrestled with a bunch of zippers and some silk fabric, but I am still not done with this dress.

Maria Shell Image Journal #15Maria Shell Image Journal #15I found this lovely piece of crockery at the thrift store. It is perfect for storing my favorite sewing feet.

Maria Shell Image Journal #15If you are near by, I hope you will join me for this year’s Wrangell Mountains Center Spring Fundraiser. I call it a Break Up party. It’s out my house. I make my studio all pretty and host a sweet silent auction full of good art and craft. There will be food and drink, and music too. Won’t you please join me in celebrating spring?

  1. I love my feet! I bought a used Bernina 5 years ago and recently I pulled out all 10 feet and put them through their paces. I had no idea I had a 1/4 in quilting foot that would make every seam exactly the same! The party sounds great!

    • Jo Anne- You should really stop by for the party. It will be super fun, you can see how my studio has changed since the last time you were here! I love my feet too. I hope this piece of pottery helps keep them all in one place.

  2. Wish I could visit Wrangle Mountain but the closest I can get is the HGTV segment on Alaska which I am enjoying so much. Beautiful contemporary houses for sale and the scenery and wildlife quite extraordinary. Makes me want to exchange our SC summers for a winter or two in Alaska. What are the dates for your visit to Charlotte? Hope it is in conjunction with the Quilt Conference there. Plan to come for a day or two. Hope to meet you then–two hours away from Columbia by car. • You never know Carole. You and Sue should plan a sister’s adventure to Alaska. I am in Charlotte Sept 1st until the end of October. I hope we can visit while I am there.
