QuiltCon2015- Appliqué Part II

I keep imagining that the lot of you are getting bored with the slo-mo version of the Modern Quilt Guild show in Austin, Texas last month.

But the numbers on my stats page say other wise.

I am going to write about something else here super shortly, but in the meantime, here is the conclusion of the Appliqué category at this year’s show.

Luke Haynes and Gabriela Kirst blew me away.

    • Sue- I’m glad to hear that. I believe your work would fit right in there. It appears the modern quilters are much more open to expressing their feelings and political views in cloth which I find brave and inspiring. Thank you for stopping by!

  2. How do you pick a favorite? When I saw the one by Gabriela Kirst, I knew that was it. Took my breath away. These are all so vastly different from traditional applique and each could stand as an art object, on it’s own.

  3. Thank you Mary for stopping by. Yes, Gabriela’s work captures such feelings of delicacy and intimacy. It is truly lovely.
