In some ways, I can’t believe I am actually saying this, but I am for REAL teaching at this year’s International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. Can you believe it?

Modern Broderie Perse
This is a super fun and easy way to work with the prints in your fabrics.
Here are some student photos from the last time I taught the class.
Each one is uniquely beautiful.
There is a materials fee which covers all the great fabric prints I will be bringing to share.
By the end of the class, you will have created an original still life of flowers in a vase.

Building Community Through Quilts
Last year, I spent two months in residency at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation.
While there I worked with the tenants of Moore Place, a permanent housing facility for the formerly chronically homeless.
We worked on stitching pillow cases, quilt blocks, and community.
This lecture is the story of that journey as well as great tips for building your own community quilts.

Time Tracking for Artists
One of the most difficult things about being a working artist is getting it all done. We juggle professional obligations, family commitments, studio time, and nervous breakdowns (just kidding, well kind of, shit like that does happen), and studio time. Learning what “Time Tracking” is and how to do it allows us to be more productive in the studio, create business opportunities, and maintain healthy relationships with our family, friends, and peers.

Blogging for Beginners (All Day)
In December 2012, I wanted to document my renewed interested in making clothes, so I started a blog to document that process. Almost three years later, I consider my blog an essential part of my artistic practice. Writing a heartful, true-to-you blog can be one of the best things you can do to advance your artist career and satisfy your life’s purpose. Alright that sounds a bit hokey, but I wouldn’t say it if it weren’t true.
This all day workshop covers all aspects of beginning and maintaining a blog. Technical issues will be covered, but the REAL discussion will be about creating a visual and written expression of you and your work on the internet.
Speaking of technical issues. I really want to post a screen shot of my blog. I can capture it with GRAB, but WordPress won’t let me up load the file. Does anyone know how to use GRAB and change the image to a form that WordPress will take?

You’ve got a busy schedule of classes! Good for you. I’m not a quilter, but I would like to take a couple of those.
Sherri- A couple of years ago, IQA started offering professional development classes, and that (for the most part) is what I am teaching. They really could be useful to almost any artist who wants to learn how to share her work and expertise. Of course, I think you know a LOT already.
I would love to take classes from you someday. Do your grab and save it to your desktop. Then change or add jpg at the end of the name. It will ask do you want to change from .tiff to .jpg and you say yes. That’s how I do it anyway.

Grab is probably saving the screenshot in PNG format. Forgive me if I’m being pedantic and this is not your problem. You can easily change it in Preview. :
1) opening up the screenshot in Preview
2) open File menu and choose Export…
3) change format from PNG to JPG. You can change the name, and it’ll let you change the quality here too if you want.
4) save
5) now try the upload with the new .jpg file.
I’ll be happy to have cocktails with you at a Mexican restaurant, and you won’t have to drink along. See you in Houston!!!!
