I am offering a new independent workshop called Three Points. I offered a version of this class at QuiltCon Together called Improv Triangles—Perfectly Pointless.
Some of the material does overlap, but the approach for this new workshop is different and the exploration more comprehensive—we will spend time with some rulers. That said, my approach to the math will continue to be improvisational.
I am not sure why it has taken me so long to offer this workshop. I suppose I was afraid no one would be interested. I used to think that the triangle was not as sexy as the circle or as serious as the square.
But, boy was I wrong. The triangle is deep and wide, prickly and sharp, and has so many points to make!
The more I think about it, the more I realize that there are lots of sides to the triangle—and they vary too!
In fact, I am discovering that the triangle can do a lot of things that other units cannot do.
So, I am inviting you to join me for a look at triangles from ALL angles.
Here are the details.
This workshop will be held via live ZOOM calls for four three hour sessions. The first two sessions will mostly be a lecture-demo—and question and answer session. The last two sessions will be focused on helping students develop and execute their own triangle based quilt composition. That said, we will also mix it up as necessary.
All four sessions will be recorded and available for students to review for approximately 30 days after the last class session.

I am debating between this workshop and “Under the Influence” – I’m wondering if you could post a little more detail about the process you teach for Under the Influence?
Rosanne- Three Points is set up the way that my other general workshops are set up–lots of lecture, demo, and Q&A for the first two sessions and then more time helping students develop their quilt compositions in the last two sessions. Three Points and my other general workshops (Making Prints, Circle & Curve Sampler, Kitchen Sink Quilting, Riffing on Tradition) all focus on technique first and then design/quilt composition. Under the Influence is an advanced workshop and focus is almost entirely on design with minimal technique discussion. My plan is for us to spend some time looking at art for inspiration and then use that inspiration as a path to original quilt designs. It is very useful for students to have taken at least one or two workshops prior to taking an advance workshop. Please let me know if you have further questions, and thank you for asking!

I had to pass on the triangles for now, but I am thinking about under the influence. I will probably have to miss the first class. I assume I can watch the recording and won’t miss too much? Will there be homework after the first class?
