I am always a bit sheepish about inviting people to things. I hate to put people in a situation where they really don’t want to go, but feel kinda like they should because I invited them.
I know, maybe that’s weird.
So, I have been thinking about my show at the Bunnell Street Arts Center, and how I hope that I won’t be standing in an empty gallery the night of the opening. And then it occurred to me that you people can’t show up if I don’t invite you.
I know most of you live no where near Homer, Alaska, but you might know someone who does. And you can tell them to show up at the Bunnell and say nice things about my work.
Or you might want to join me in spirit, and that is a good thing too.
Or maybe you do actually live near Homer, and I will get to meet you.
And there is the fact that you might be going to Homer in the near future, and you could stop and see the show then.
But none of that can happen, if I don’t first invite you.
So please consider yourself formally invited to my first ever SOLO Show. I have hard copies of the show announcement and a pdf, but I do not know how to upload a pdf to my blog. If any of you know how, I’d love to hear about it.
So here is a photograph of the front of the announcement.
And here is the back with all the info.
If you can’t read the small print, this is what it says-
Maria Shell Cut Stitch Press
Exhibit Feb 7- Mar 5
Opening Feb 7, 5-7 pm
Artist Talk 6 pm
at the Bunnell Street Arts Center, 106 West Bunnell Homer, Alaska
And of course you can learn more by going to the Bunnell Street Arts Center’s website.
PS Those of you who voted for Boulevard as your Viewer’s Choice made an excellent decision! Thank you for your assistance.
I’ll be there in spirit! Have a great show – bet it’s packed!
Thank you Martha!
I would be there is a second if I could. Seeing your work in person is so on my want list. Since Alaska is a long drink of water from Skiatook, Oklahoma, I will be there with you every step of the way in spirit. Good luck, have fun, and, enjoy everyone there.
Thank you Sandy for stopping by and for you nice words. The next Surface Design Association’s Conference is scheduled for Oklahoma. Maybe we will meet then?
Wish I could be there. Your post made me remember that I was in Homer about 25 years ago. Enjoy your show!
Diane- thank you! It has been 16 years since I’ve been to Homer, but we are very much looking forward to it.The whole family is going!
Wish I could be there..Best of luck to you ! Much love and a hug too!
I wish you could be here too!
Hi Maria, Just wanted to let you know I emailed Lisa Call today to discuss doing the master Class. Been thinking about it and think it would be a good thing for me to do. Thanks for your invite and encouragement!

Photo on cover is great. Snowed in or I’d be there, hah! 3 inches in Columbia, SC today and all has come to a screeching halt. Good luck. We always wonder if anyone will come to a party and then after they leave we wish we could do it more often. You’ll see. Carole
We’ve got fifty degrees and sunny up here. Go figure. It is a wacky weather year for sure. Thank you for the good advice. I know you are right.
Congratulations on your show. Love the invitation~ ! ~
I will “reblog” and share via facebook ! I love your work and know that anyone who has to a chance to meet you face to face will enjoy that encounter! I did when I met you in Houston at IQF.

Thank you Mary. I love the scrap work you’ve been doing lately. It is great!
Yup – I’d be there if I could. Someday, Lord willing, I’d love to visit Alaska, and wouldn’t it be great if that someday actually fell during this time.
Thank you LubbyGirl. I do hope you get to visit someday–it is a land of great beauty.
